My scene name is Delight, which belongs to Happiness. My inspiration comes from the cheongsam, one of the traditional Chinese clothing styles. Cheongsam originated in the Republic of China in the early 20th century. At that time, only women in the wealthy house could wear a cheongsam, so cheongsam also symbolized status and wealth. Over time, cheongsam gradually became popular among Shanghai women. Later, it gradually became the traditional clothing of Chinese women. Traditional cheongsam mostly uses bright colors and finely painted fabrics, which are popular among women. With the increasing globalization of culture and aesthetics, some brands have begun to combine the design of Chinese cheongsam and added new elements to make cheongsam attract attention worldwide. Because new features often follow fashion trends, more and more women from various countries are beginning to show their love for new-style cheongsams. It is not difficult to find through the fashion shows and international film festivals of some top brands that more and more female guests are choosing new cheongsams to attend.
I will add some modern factors to the traditional cheongsam, making cheongsam not limited to conventional clothing. Whether it is a traditional cheongsam, or a new style of cheongsam worn by female stars, it is often a costume to attend important events, and the purpose of my design is to make cheongsam a modern woman’s daily wear. Therefore, my design removes a lot of complicated decoration, trying to highlight the curve of the clothing itself concisely, and show the curve of the woman itself, to show the sexy and cute of women. In terms of clothing color matching, I did not use the bright colors of traditional cheongsam but used simple black and white lines to highlight the design and edges of the clothes themselves, which can also make it more daily and not overly grand. In terms of clothing colors, dark colors will give people a sense of atmosphere and stability, which is why I choose dark colors in my clothing show. The dark color and the lines of the clothes will show the beauty of the woman more.
But in March, New York, and several states began to stop classes in the classroom because of the epidemic problem, but continued them online. It will seriously affect our show. We need the aid of school supplies for this fashion show, such as sewing machines, sewing room, figures, and so on, a series of tools. It is also a big problem for me. For those who need to make their clothes, these are necessities. I can’t make these clothes because the school is closed. As a result, I need to find some other ways, which will waste a lot of time, money, and energy. And the effort we put into this fashion show also turned into vain. It was initially a very grand clothing exhibition because of the epidemic. It also brought me great regret.
